Start With The Outdoors Card Number
For New Brunswick online buying, the first useful step is the Outdoors Card number. New Brunswick says that number is required before buying an angling, hunting, or trapping licence.
The number comes from a one-time registration. You can register online through the Fish and Wildlife Licensing System, at an authorized vendor, or at a Service New Brunswick location. The province says there is no fee for the Outdoors Card number, and it is issued as soon as registration is complete.
The physical card is mainly a convenient way to remember the number. New Brunswick says the card itself is not a licence and does not have to be carried while angling, hunting, or trapping.
Choose The NB e-Licensing Question First
NB e-Licensing questions usually fall into four different jobs: getting the Outdoors Card number, logging in, buying the right licence, or recovering proof after purchase. Separate those jobs before opening checkout.
What To Have Ready Before Logging In
For online access, New Brunswick lists a unique email address for the account, a device with internet, an up-to-date browser, a payment method, and the ability to view or download the licence PDF.
If you already have an Outdoors Card number, keep it nearby. If you registered online on or after January 19, 2026, New Brunswick says the number is in the email sent after registration. A licence printout, system receipt, or registration confirmation can also show the number.

A vendor or SNB Centre can also reprint a licence, but the province lists a reprint fee there. If tags are involved, handle them separately because lost tags are replaced only through SNB Centres.
When e-Licensing Is Not The Whole Answer
The e-Licensing account can get you into the buying system, but it does not settle every New Brunswick fishing question. Seasons, open waters, salmon access, tidal water, Fish NB Days, and guide-required waters still need their own checks.
